5 Tips for Taming Your Tummy

5 Tips for Taming Your Tummy

ARTICLE BY | Dan Stearns

There’s a lot in our lives that can occasionally knock our digestion out of balance: hectic schedules and stress, acidic or unusual foods, or even simply a lack of sleep. But even if it only happens once in a while, stomach discomfort is hard to ignore. Fortunately, there are some simple things you can do to support healthy digestion and have more good days than bad.

Exercise
Regular exercise isn’t just good for the waistline, it helps keep everything moving. If you’ve fallen into a habit of being sedentary lately, you may be surprised at how much of a difference taking an extra walk around the block, doing a few sit ups during commercial breaks, and committing to a regular yoga routine can make for your intestinal comfort.

Enjoy Fruit, Veggies, and Fiber
Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains are the “treats” of the food world. They also provide an excellent source of antioxidants, polyphenols, flavonoids, minerals, and vitamins. Adding more of these wholesome foods to your diet will yield noticeable benefits for your digestive system and your overall health.

Drink Water
Along with a boost in naturally fiber-rich foods, make sure you’re staying hydrated. It’s good practice in any event, but it definitely helps ease your digestion, especially with any increase in fiber.

Keep Track of What You Eat
Keeping a food journal is well worth the effort. It makes it easier to note each occasion of stomach discomfort, bloating, gas, and other less-than-ideal aspects of digestion. You’ll likely see some pattern to these times and the foods you eat that will make it easier to modify your diet.

Supplement Daily
There are a lot of excellent supplemental ingredients you can add to your daily regimen to support healthy digestion.* Here are four favorites:

  1. Colon & Bowel Probiotic includes Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Bifidobacterium bifidum. This combination of probiotics, called the FloraSure blend, supports a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria also known as “gut flora.” This balance is important for more than digestion—your immune system depends on it, too.* And if you have diet sensitivities, that’s not a problem with this supplement. Unlike many other probiotics, it is non-dairy based, so Colon & Bowel Probiotic is a perfect choice for many reasons.

  2. Ayurvedic Digestive Formula delivers a host of traditionally used herbs in one convenient supplement. In a clinical study, it reduced occasional bloating, constipation, and other digestive discomforts with just two capsules taken before bedtime.*

  3. BosMed® Intestinal Bowel Support* contains boswellia that works along unique pathways to combat occasional digestive system flare-ups. The other synergistic herbs support the mucosal lining of your intestines, reduce occasional gas, bloating, and cramping, and help promote healthy gut flora.*

  4. Heartburn Rescue*† features a blend of two botanicals, d-limonene and sea buckthorn. They are a powerful, synergistic duo. They support the lining of your stomach and intestines for long-lasting heartburn relief.*†
