(How it Works)

How it Works:

Sea Buckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides), has a long history of use. The seed, pulp, and skin of the berry are packed with over 200 nutrients, including antioxidant tocopherols, beta-carotene, phytosterols, and omega fatty acids. In fact, the omega fatty acid profile of omega fatty acids, including omega-3, 6, 9 and the much more difficult-to-find, but very valuable omega-7.  Sea buckthorn has actually been called a “nutrient bomb” because it is so rich in flavonoids, vitamins, and other beneficial compounds.1-6

It has been shown to support healthy moisture levels throughout the body, including the eyes.* Omega7® Eye Relief™ provides clinically-studied SBA 24® sea buckthorn oil for eye hydration and comfort.*5,6

Omega-7 (palmitoleic acid), and the other essential fatty acids in sea buckthorn, including omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 help support the “tear film” of the eyes, ensuring that the refreshing, natural moisture of the eyes is maintained at normal levels.* Clinical studies have shown that the sea buckthorn oil in this formula, SBA 24®, was clinically shown to provide this support. 5,6

One double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study included one hundred men and women aged 20 to 75 who were looking for additional eye support. Not surprisingly, half of them used contact lenses.

For three months, half of the participants used SBA 24. Throughout the study, the participants kept a logbook, and tests, including eye exams and fatty acid analysis of the tear film were conducted as well.

By the end of the study, those using sea buckthorn showed healthy eye moisture and fatty acid composition of the tear film. *5

Another double-blind, placebo-controlled study found that SBA 24(sea buckthorn) supported healthy eye moisture as well.* Sea buckthorn is also rich in carotenoids, which may also be responsible for its eye health benefits.*6
